Privacy Policy

The short version

TextTriage does not collect personal data. No account required. No API key required. Article text is sent to our server, used only to generate your summary, and never stored or logged. We store only an anonymous usage count per device to enforce the free monthly limit. Paid subscribers (Pro / Unlimited) additionally have a license key stored locally in their browser to verify subscription status. No payment card data is ever seen or stored by TextTriage. Your identity and reading habits are never known to us.

What TextTriage is

TextTriage is a Chrome browser extension that helps you decide whether an article is worth reading. It extracts the visible text of a webpage, sends it to the TextTriage API, and returns a 3-sentence summary and a reading verdict.

TextTriage is free to use up to 30 triages per month. Paid plans (Pro: 200/month, Unlimited: no cap) are available at texttriage.app/pricing. No account is required for any tier. Paid subscribers receive a license key after checkout which is entered directly in the extension.

What we collect and why

We collect the minimum necessary to operate the service:

We do not collect: browsing history, page URLs, search queries, personal information, or any data beyond what is described above.

Data in transit

All communication between the extension and the TextTriage API is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Article text is transmitted solely to process your request and is discarded immediately after the response is returned. No article content is written to any TextTriage database or log file at any point. See Third-party services below for infrastructure provider policies.

Third-party services

TextTriage uses two infrastructure providers to deliver the service:

TextTriage does not share your data with any other third parties and does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking services.

Chrome permissions

TextTriage requests the following Chrome permissions:

No permission grants TextTriage access to pages you are not actively viewing, your browsing history, bookmarks, or any other browser data.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

For free-tier users, TextTriage does not collect personal data and cannot identify you — most data subject rights are satisfied by design.

For paid subscribers, TextTriage holds a license key and Stripe customer/session ID. You may request deletion of this data at any time by emailing privacy@texttriage.app. Deletion will deactivate your license key. Payment records held by Stripe are governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.

Your anonymous device ID is stored only in your own browser. You can delete it at any time by clearing the TextTriage extension storage in Chrome settings, or by uninstalling the extension. This will reset your monthly usage count.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California and have questions about your rights, contact us at the address below.

Children's privacy

TextTriage is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of TextTriage after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
